Dear Architects of India,

There are over a lakh of us, who play a pivotal role in shaping our nation’s built environment. Our work influences the way people live, work, and interact with their surroundings.

But ours has become a highly undervalued profession where we are overworked but underpaid. Weak policies have made it exceedingly difficult for architects to thrive sustainably.

The purpose of our initiative is to create the most comprehensive survey of architects in India to gather invaluable insights and identify challenges. We aim to push for informed policy-making in the future.

And your contribution matters. By sharing your experiences, perspectives, and aspirations, you will contribute to a body of knowledge that could positively shape the future of architects in India.

Why do we need this survey?

Even today, there remains an abject lack of a comprehensive study that reflects on the various challenges experienced by architects working in the field. To address issues within the profession, we must first mitigate ways to identify them. The State of Architects survey does precisely this. It is designed to ask focused questions and collect data on the experiences of practising architects in the workplace and the industry.

What will you do with my data?

This is an anonymous survey, and the data will be put on an open-source dashboard, accessible by all. Your data will be protected and safeguarded against any unethical use.

What happens after the survey?

The findings of the survey will be processed and compiled into the country’s largest database on the State of Architects. The key insights will be presented on a live dashboard accessible to all on this website.
